On these holidays there is a choice of two walks for varying abilities each day. For maximum choice we
offer two weekly itineraries - ideal if you wish to book a 14-night holiday or return for a second visit.
ITINERARY ONE:
Weeks of 20 June; 4 July; 1, 15 Aug 2009 |

Day 1: arrival day
Day 2: explore the historic centre of Luz St Sauveur and the Pont Napoleon on local walks with breathtaking views of the higher peaks.
Day 3: admire the spectacular waterfalls at the Pont d’Espagne, and then enjoy walks to the Lac de Gaube and the slopes of Vignemale (3,298m), the highest peak in the Pyrenees.
Day 4: watch out for playful marmots as you follow the GR10 path from Baréges, perhaps to the Lac de Glere with its views of the Néovielle National Park.
Day 5: free day - options include relaxing by the outdoor pool in Luz, or thermal spa, while more adventurous options include parascending and white-water rafting.
Day 6: walk to the towering amphitheatre of the Cirque de Gavarnie, or admire this monumental landscape on an ascent to the high col of the Horquette d’Alans.
Day 7: discover the beautiful Coubous Valley with an optional ascend to the summit of the Pic d’Aygues Cluses.

ITINERARY TWO
Weeks of 13, 27 June; 25 July; 8, 22 Aug 2009
Day 1: arrival day
Day 2: visit the sleepy spa village at Baréges and from here walk down the green Bastan Valley, rich with butterflies and wild flowers.
Day 3: enjoy walks to the Cirque de Troumouse and the Lac des Gloriettes; a landscape every bit as good as its more famous neighbour at Gavarnie.
Day 4: walk beside the cascading river from the Pont d’Espagne into the Marcadau Valley to the Lacs de l’Embarrat through some of the finest scenery in the Pyrenees.
Day 5: free day - perhaps take the local bus to the world-famous pilgrimage town of Lourdes.
Day 6: discover the magnificent Cirque de Gavarnie. Weather permitting an ascent can be made to the Breche de Roland, a dramatic cleft in the cliffs, through which lies Spain.
Day 7: follow the cyclists to the top of the famous Col de Tourmalet and then walk to the beautiful Lac d’Oncet in the shadow of the Pic du Midi.
Day 8: departure day

walks at this resort but is subject to change. Each year we listen carefully to
the views of our guests and make improvements to our walking programmes. Further
information will be sent to you prior to your holiday; however the final selection
of walks will be made by your walking leaders.
Local transport to and from walks:
Local transport is not included in the cost of your holiday.
Please allow €70 per (approx £56) per week for
transport during the week, excluding your free day. Payable
locally in Euros.
