Days 2-5: Arrival in the great imperial city of Beijing (4 nights) where we visit Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park. We can also walk around Kunming Lake to the Summer Palace and travel to the quieter Jinshanling area of the Great Wall for an exhilarating walk on this historic site.

Days 6-7: Flight to Xian (2 nights) with visits to the ancient city walls and Big Goose Pagoda. The highlight of our stay is a visit to the vast burial place of the Terracotta Army - 7,000 individually craftedlife-sized figures, complete with chariots and horses.

Day 8: Fly via Kunming to the timeless old town of Lijiang (1 night).

Day 9: We commence our walk through the amazing Tiger Leaping Gorge with an overnight stop at the Tea Horse Guesthouse. This walk is considered to be one of the best in China.

Days 10-11: Another great day of panoramic mountain views as we complete our trek and return to Lijiang (2 nights) where we visit the picturesqueold town.

Days 12-13: Continue to Guilin (2 nights), one of the most famous landscapes in China, for walks in the hill terraces of the Lonji Mountains.

Days 14-15: Cruise along the Li River to Yangshuo (2 nights) where we walk to a mountain retreat and explore this unique landscape of limestone peaks and patterns of inter-connecting rice fields. During our stay in Yangshou, there will be the opportunity (weather conditions permitting) to attend an outdoor performance of ‘Liu San Jie’ - an outstanding theatrical production of a traditional Chinese love story - including over 600 performers in a light, sound and dance spectacular in the natural setting of the Li River and surrounding mountains.

Day 16: Walk to a local farming village before returning to Guilin and our flight to Hong Kong (2 nights).

Day 17: Enjoy a walk with spectacular views on Hong Kong Island.
