Founded in 1913, HF Holidays is today the world's leading walking holidays specialist. With around 50,000 guests each year and a panel of nearly 1,000 volunteer leaders, the company has established a reputation as an expert in its field.
In the company's offices in Penrith, Cumbria and Colindale, London 80 staff look after the administration, reservation and operations side.

Country Houses:
HF Holidays also owns and manages 17 Country Houses throughout Great Britain, which provide the base for most of the company's walking and special interest holidays in the UK.

Destinations:
In Great Britain, walking and other special interest holidays are operated in the company's hotels on the Isle of Wight, in Devon, Cornwall, the Lake District, Scotland, Northumberland and Wales, to name but a few. Further afield, Spain, Morocco, New Zealand, Portugal, Austria and Barbados are just some of the many destinations, where walking and sightseeing holidays are offered.

Under the 'Classic Walking' banner, the company offers holidays and short breaks featuring a choice of guided walks each day - every one led by an experienced guide. HF Holidays increasing its financial support for Mountain Rescue teams

Walking holidays tour operator HF Holidays has announced that it will be significantly increasing its regular donations to Mountain Rescue teams in 2008. The company’s donations will rise in most cases to as much as triple of the current contribution.
 
HF Holidays has been operating walking holidays in the UK for over 90 years and has been supporting the Mountain Rescue and other similar organisations for as many years. The operator owns 17 Country Houses around the UK, mostly in National Parks, and supports all local Mountain Rescue teams where its guests walk. Total of 20 Mountain Rescue teams benefit from the support, including Kendal, Keswick, Swaledale, Ogwen Valley and Glen Coe Mountain Rescue and many others.

HF Holidays operates walking holidays guided by experienced walk leaders, who ensure the safety and comfort of the holiday-makers during their daily walks. HF Holidays guests usually walk in group of 15 or less with a responsible guide and respect the countryside by observing the Country Code. HF Holidays has a panel of over 900 voluntary walk leaders, who are assessed and trained on regular basis, ensuring the highest standard around.

Other volunteer organisations benefiting from HF Holidays support are Scottish Rights of Way and Access Society, or the Ramblers Association. HF Holidays is also committed to the natural environment and has also donated over £200,000 through its Pathways Fund to worthwhile countryside projects over the last 10 years.

The tour operator privately owns Country Houses across the UK, which are located in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and national parks such as Brecon Beacons, Exmoor National Park or the Lake District.

Introducing new skiing holidays with HF Holidays

Walking holidays specialist HF Holidays is expanding its Winter Experience holidays to now include downhill skiing and snowboarding. Featured alongside cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and winter walking, these new programmes will enhance the choice whilst keeping to the HF Holidays ethos of comfort and sociable atmosphere.

The tour operator is using two top resorts to launch its new holidays. Enjoy either the Swiss village of Adelboden, one of the country’s top ski resorts, or Mayrhofen, surrounded with stunning vista’s of the Zillertal mountains.

The holidays feature group tuition by local schools along with an HF Holidays' Ski leader being on hand to offer advice on suitable skiing areas and to co-ordinate all local arrangements. Many other activities can be tried in the resorts such as snow-shoeing, Nordic walking or cross-country skiing.

Walking holidays specialist HF Holidays is further stretching its new tours and including an expedition into the tropical cloud forests and mountains of Costa Rica exploring the abundance of its natural wonders for the first time.

New customer magazine for world’s biggest walking holiday operator
West End agency Clear Media (part of The Media Circus Group) has produced the first issue of a new contract title for HF Holidays. Clear Media is an integrated communications and design agency specialising in the travel and luxury goods markets, working on projects ranging from internal communications to client, consumer and business-to-business communication. Other clients include Pride of Britain Hotels, Page & Moy, L’Oreal, LVMH and BUPA Insurance.

As well as acting as a sales tool, the magazine includes interesting and informative articles about food and drink, people, nature, health and lifestyle, making readers feel part of the HF Holidays community.

The magazine will be published twice a year, comprising 36 pages of which 70% are editorial, and a print run of 130,000. It is distributed by mail to HF Holidays members and guests, and displayed in their Country House accommodation.
